Community Engagement highlights place-based projects that connect environmental learning, spatial planning, community participation, and neighborhood-scale stewardship. These experiences reflect my broader interest in using maps, field observation, and visual tools to support public understanding of environmental risk, infrastructure, and local landscapes.
Developing a community-based ocean literacy and field learning project with the Westbury Area Improvement Corporation. This work connects neighborhood stormwater, green stormwater infrastructure, Willow Waterhole Bayou, Galveston Bay, and the Gulf of Mexico to help residents understand how inland urban landscapes are linked to downstream coastal and marine environments.
Supported community-based tree planting and urban greening workshops with Hispanic community members in Mesa, Arizona. Activities included demonstration events, workshop support, event hosting, and neighborhood-scale environmental stewardship focused on shade, greening, and local environmental improvement.
Keelung, Taiwan | 2017–2019
Contributed to place-based community planning and engagement around Malingkeng Elementary School in Keelung, Taiwan. This work connected local environmental conditions, school-community relationships, neighborhood identity, and public participation in a coastal urban context.
Participated in community-based planning and cultural landscape work in Erkan, Penghu, a historic settlement known for its traditional houses. The project focused on local heritage, public space, coastal village identity, and community participation in settlement revitalization.
